"Each July Fourth, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks - devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death. The Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks is a group of health and safety organizations, coordinated by NFPA, that urges the public to avoid the use of consumer fireworks and instead, to enjoy displays of fireworks conducted by trained professionals." -NFPA
I'd say it's common knowledge that what goes up, usually, comes down. Usually...
So setting off fireworks close to a neighborhood could result in numerous accidents and yet, here I find myself part of the minority that doesn't participate in consumer fireworks.
Okay. There's a reason it's Independence DAY and not Independence week. I get that you love your country and so do I, but lets not keep the entire neighborhood awake for days after the actual holiday. I go to bed at 9 because that's when sticks in the mud go to bed but this isn't just about me and my selfish hatred for loud noises. It's about babies and their mommas who both desperately need sleep. It's about children who are frightened of sudden, deafening sounds. It's about hardworking men and women who have to wake up at the crack of dawn every single day. It's about the people I love who suffer from chronic migraines and those around the world who hurt just like them. And I'm speaking on behalf of them. Because they want to celebrate too. But for every day of fireworking you tack on, that's several more days they spend recovering. Hurting. I don't want you to think I hate America and fireworks and that everyone should master the game of quiet mouse. I love America and fireworks are beautiful. I just wish that it was one day and not a week of them.
